Today was the first day we met up with the staff and students of Foxford School who will be joining us on our visit to Uganda. We went to Good Shepherd Primary School to work with some reception children on their Spanish day - this meant playing games and decorating castanets that our design department kindly made for us. We took turns to work with small groups and we have developed our communication skills. It was so hot we feel like we are acclimatised ready for Uganda - some of us even have sunburn (reminder to pack high factor sun screen). It was good to work with the younger students to get us used to how to behave in front of them and how to listen and how to be patient! The 7 of us got on really well - we have identified our strengths - Rio was great with the little children and his sports leadership, Liam is good at overall management and getting people to do what he wants them to do, Kate was fab at talking to the little children, Emily is great at working as part of a team and really showed her talkative confident self, Yaz is good at sharing (sweets!) and talking to anyone with confidence, and we were just amazing (guess who is writing this blog!) Mrs Osman wasn't half bad either! The group has really gelled and we think we all feel more confident in our ability to work together in Uganda. Getting very exciting! And a big thank you to Mrs Ross for organising the malarone for us all - don't forget to start taking it next week!
next blog will be from the airport!!
